Kid Pan Alley - Charlottesville - I USED TO KNOW THE NAMES OF ALL THE STARS

A musical journey through the universe--songs written by Paul Reisler with the children of Charlottesville, VA recorded by Cracker, Sissy Spacek, Corey Harris, John McCutcheon, Jesse Winchester, Sparky's Flaw and a host of others.
Kid Pan Alley: Tidal Wave of Song
WHY? Because it's folk, rock, country, pop, hip-hop, classical, and punk...it's funny, moving, goofy, gross, and completely enchanting!
Tidal Wave of Song was recorded by over 30 professional musicians with a little help from the kids who wrote the songs! Songwriter Paul Reisler of Trapezoid got together with over 600 elementary school kids in rural Rappahannock County, Virginia, and wrote 50 songs.
The 19 best and wackiest, recorded by Rappahannock's world-class musicians (from the rock band Everything and the punk band Daycare Swindlers to 15-year-old vocalist Carsie to Hall of Fame Marine Corps Band Director John Bourgeoise and the children of conductor Lorin Maazel) made it to the CD.
There are songs for Halloween, Valentine's Day, Christmas and Hannukah. You can hear the magic and freshness of the kids' creativity on every track.
All proceeds go to music education programs in Rappahannock County, Virginia.
". . . A veritable tsunami of homegrown music . . . . wide-ranging, surprising and fun. I love it!"
–John McCutcheon
"The album's nineteen cuts are a marvel of perfectly executed and diverse styles, both in terms of the songwriting and the song performance . . . a model for community, for children's pride and self-awareness, and for doing good in these days of seeing the bad."
–Gerald Ochs, Rappahannock News
ESPECIALLY POPULAR WITH KIDS 6 to 14—and adults who are tired of yelling "Turn that music down!"
Kid Pan Alley: Kid Pan Alley Nashville
It's won both Parents' Choice and NAPPA Gold awards and received a Grammy nomination!!
These are songs that the entire family loves. They're funny, hip, rockin', beautiful, happy, scary, inspirational and moving. They cover the musical map from R&B to reggae, country to classical, and from the Beatles to bluegrass to blues.
Parents are certain to love this album just as much as the kids do.
The Nashville CD is an exciting partnership with one of the most innovative orchestras in the country, the Nashville Chamber Orchestra. Produced by Kid Pan Alley founder Paul Reisler, who produced John McCutcheon's seminal children's albums, Fred Bogert, producer of perennial kids' favorite Trout Fishing in America, and Paul Gambill, Music Director of the Nashville Chamber Orchestra, there has never been another children's album like it.
"Kids' music that is exactly that: Music for-and by-kids. The songs are written with a charming honesty and whimsy that only children can create. Unquestionably the most original kids' CD I've heard all year." XM Satellite Radio
"From the first notes you are hooked by the joy that went into this project....It's an album as ageless as the community that has created it, and that rings true with just one listen...Music that can be enjoyed by the entire family." MetroKids Magazine, Philadelphia, PA

“Paul Reisler is certainly a leader among those who blend the categories, who redefine eclectic or take eclectic to new and wonderful territories” Greeneville (SC) News
“Poetic song writing.” Acoustic Musician Magazine
“The vocals are pure poetry. ensemble treats these original tunes by Trapezoid's founder Paul Reisler with the reverence of old traditional ones but with a daring of Promethean proportions.” All Music Guide
