Kid Pan Alley: Music
Forgiveness
(Pam Rose, Georgia Middleman and Paul Reisler)
By Pam Rose, Georgia Middleman and Paul Reisler
We were all together at an artist colony with a couple of other songwriters. We each had relatives with mental illness and started talking about what it would be like if we were at their funeral. Out came this song about forgiveness. This hasn't been recorded yet. It is just our writing demo.
somehow the wind won't even whisper
it's so quiet in this place
strange i thought there'd be a lot more
tears rolling down my face
i didn't mean to wait so long
there were all these things i couldn't say
what is love if not forgiveness
guess I'm finding out today
you are my blood
i have your hands
but there's still so much of you
i'll never understand
i only pray
if there's any grace at all
there’s a place where sorrow ends and love begins
forgiveness
i always thought you could be different
you'd get it together, straighten up
mute the voices, change the channel
anything, if you loved me enough
it's so ironic as i stand here
what i wouldn't give to hear your voice
all those times that you weren't there for me
now i know, you didn't have a choice
you are my blood
i have your hands
but there's still so much of you
i'll never understand
i only pray
if there's any grace at all
there’s a place where sorrow ends and love begins
forgiveness
